Continuity and Comfort

Support can be built around the person’s routines, communication style, preferences, and safety needs so care remains consistent while the primary caregiver is away.

Respite Support May Include

Supervision & Safety

Non-medical supervision and support consistent with the person’s authorized needs.

Personal Routines

Help with authorized dressing, grooming, toileting, hygiene, or other daily routines.

Companionship & Engagement

Conversation, games, activities, and meaningful engagement while the primary caregiver is away.

Meals & Household Support

Authorized meal preparation and light tasks related to the individual’s immediate care needs.

Caregiver Choice & Authorization

Family-Selected or Trusted Caregiver

Depending on Regional Center requirements and the authorized service model, families may be able to select a qualified person they know and trust. Required screening, training, onboarding, and employment steps must be completed before services begin.

Hours Are Authorized by the Regional Center

There is no Selora-set formula for respite hours. The Regional Center and planning process determine the authorized amount based on the individual’s IPP and applicable requirements.
